A new extrusion press installed by Indalex Aluminum Solutions required a die cleaning system that was able to clean up to 45, 30 inch diameter dies per day. This system, believed to be the worlds largest automated extrusion die cleaning system, includes the following features:

  • 6 individually controlled stainless steel die cleaning tanks
  • Pneumatically actuated valves
  • Welded, flanged steel piping
  • Ingersoll Rand ARO stainless steel diaphragm pumps
  • Cleaning tank / die rinse system
  • Pneumatically controlled / locked cleaning tank lids
  • Redundant caustic mixing / heating tank for quick spent caustic replacement
  • Flange mounted immersion heaters
  • Sequential heater control
  • Three 1500 gallon caustic mix tanks
  • Conformal coated Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus touch screen operator interface
  • Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLC

Mounted on three skids, the system was fully tested in our Phoenix facility and easily disassembled and transported by flat bed truck from Phoenix, AZ to Connersville, IN. Services by Kredit Automation & Controls included the structural design, process and control design, assembly, shipping and on-site set up.
